Surveillance of Radioactivity in the Atmosphere by the Deutscher Wetterdienst – Monitoring and Prognosis
نویسندگان
چکیده
The German Meteorological Service (DWD) is charged with tasks of radiation protection by the Law of the Deutscher Wetterdienst (1955, 1998), the Precautionary Radiation Protection Act (1986) and the Radiation Protection Ordinance (2001). Since 1955 the DWD is responsible for the surveillance of radioactivity in the atmosphere realized by measuring the radioactivity as well as analyzing the meteorological situation. The present tasks of DWD in the frame of the German "Integrated Measuring and Information System for the Monitoring of Radioactivity in the Environment" are presented including the measuring programme, the network of measuring locations, the organisation of aircraft measurements, the simulation of trajectories and dispersion. Regular emergency exercises and the operational routines guarantee a continuous control of the organisation`s quality.

Radioactivity monitoring in drinking water of Zahedan, Iran
Background: The present research has focused on the effect of radioactivity on drinking water from five sites in the region of Zahedan city. Materials and Methods: The measurement of water activity in wells, river and spring has been used as a screening method. The determination of gamma emitters was performed by use the application of gamma spectrometry. Results: The values of Radium concentra...
متن کاملMonitoring the concentration of 238U, 232Th, 40K and 137Cs of soil in Anarak-Khour district, Central Iran
This study was conducted to determine the radioactivity concentration in soil samples of Anarak-Khour district located at central Iran. 48 soil samples from a depth of 10-15 cm were taken from seven different sites for monitoring. The radioactivity concentration of 238U, 232Th, 137Cs and 40K in soil samples was determined, using a high resolution (HPGe detector, p-type) γ-spectrometry by detect...
متن کاملRadiological risk analysis of sediment from Kutubdia island, Bangladesh due to natural and anthropogenic radionuclides
To assess the environmental radioactivity levels and hence to determine the population exposure in Kutubdia Island, Bangladesh the sediment samples were analyzed by using gamma ray spectrometry. In those sediment samples the average activity concentration of natural radionuclides 238U, 232Th and 40K were found 15.39±1.67, 38.35±0.76 and 475.51±21.15 Bq/kg respectively. ...
متن کاملMonitoring of air radioactivity at the Jungfraujoch research station: test of a new high volume aerosol sampler.
The Swiss Federal Office of Public Health (SFOPH) is responsible for the surveillance of environmental radioactivity in Switzerland and for the protection of the public from ionizing and non-ionizing radiation. In order to improve the Swiss radioactivity monitoring network, a new high volume air sampler (DIGITEL DHA-80) was tested in Fribourg and at the Jungfraujoch High Altitude Research Stati...
